The client specializes in RF design and produces standard RF modules that are easy to use and integrate. The client’s products operate in the license free ISM bands and can be used in short-range wireless applications.
Client’s Business Requirement
Our client wanted to build an application that provided data interface between paired hardware modules of the client. The client intended to combine this application with its hardware modules so as to provide a development kit for application developers to implement ZigBee networks and to develop custom applications.
Airbee’s Solution
Airbee developed the application as a fully embedded application profile over its proprietary Airbee-ZNS mesh networking protocol stack supporting Full Function Device (FFD) and Reduced Function Device (RFD) operation. The module acts like a serial port modem, and in addition it offers up to 16 digital and 8 analogue I/Os that can be mapped to any other module within the mesh network. All configurations of the module are done through an easy-to-use ATcommand interface using the serial port. Airbee also implemented low power mode capabilities with this application that will help in enhancing the battery-life.

Using this application, OEM manufacturers without RF design knowledge can easily add high performance wireless ZigBee mesh network capability to their space limited products, and significantly reduce time-to-market and development cost. No software development is required to use the product.
